Grandparents Day

Grandparents of many Westminster students visited campus Oct. 9 to spend the day with their grandchildren. They attended classes, toured campus and had lunch with their grandchildren in the dining hall. Later in the day, many grandparents attended athletic events.

During a morning chapel service, Headmaster Bill Philip welcomed grandparents to the day and invited them to “enjoy the breadth of our school’s program.” He said he hoped they would meet many fellow grandparents and faculty during their visit. “Westminster is blessed with beautiful facilities, but people distinguish this school,” he added. He explained the importance of community events at Westminster such as chapels and assemblies saying, “At Westminster, community is not something we just talk about; it is an essential part of the school.” In closing, he thanked grandparents for visiting and wished them a great day with their grandchildren.

Eugenia Naamon ’14 then gave a chapel talk about the significance of the Martlet, Grit and Grace and school traditions. “I believe traditions tie us together and unite us in our differences,” she said.
