First Girls’ Soccer
After a successful scrimmage against Loomis Chaffee on Thursday, First Girls' Soccer opened its season on a solid note, defeating Northfield Mount Hermon 3-0. Throughout the contest, the veteran team exhibited strong chemistry, depth, solid defense and an attacking offense. Sally Sandoval '15 started the scoring for the Martlets only five minutes into the game. Jacqui Richard '16 earned the second goal off of an assist from Laura Moore '14, and Brittany Swanson '14 finished the scoring with a feed from Megan Richard '15.

Second Girls’ Soccer
In their first game of the season, the Martlets showed impressive ball control, great passing and solid shooting against Northfield Mount Hermon. Less than a minute into the game, Emma Merlin '16 sent a bullet past the NMH goalie off a perfect pass from Alyssa DiMaria '15. Westminster's offense dominated in the first half, and Third Former McKenna Burelle earned her first goal with a beautiful, long-range shot. The Martlet offensive deluge continued in the second half, and thanks to Westminster's constant pressure, Hallie Feibel '16 took advantage of a loose ball following a strong shot from Merlin and put the ball in the back of the net. Other impressive players were Katherine Eckerson '16 with some near-misses and great runs, and Maeve DeFronzo '16, who played solid defense for the whole game.

First Field Hockey
The Martlets got off to a strong start to the season with an 8-0 win against Ethel Walker. Cat Crawley '16 opened up the scoring on an assist by Kelsey Finn '14 to get the Martlets on the board. Finn later fed to newcomer Emma Stevens '16 to take a 2-0 lead. Abby Reed ’14 then scored on a penalty stroke to secure the third goal of the game. In the second half, the Black and Gold produced a flurry of goals, including one from Susanna Baker '15, another from Stevens, two from Finn, and the final goal coming from Sarah Melanson '16. The defense played well when challenged, including some great ball movement between Reed, Third Former Maddy Paro, and Fourth Former Ashley Carbone. Stina Ladd '15 held the midfield and was able to effectively feed the forward line to produce a number of scoring opportunities. Fourth Former Sarah Milgiori finished her first game with one save.
