Westminster to Host 13th Annual MS Walk

Westminster School will host the MS Walk on Sunday, April 21, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Jackson Hockey Rink. Hundreds of walkers are expected to participate in the event.

Westminster faculty, staff and students will once again volunteer to help out with the day’s set-up, operations and clean-up. Many also will be walking into downtown Simsbury and back with members of the community. This is the 13th year the school has hosted the annual event.

Volunteer coordinators Clay Cadieux ’13, Ryan Strange ’13, Ben Kleinschmidt ’14, Ellie Deveaux ’14 and Tommy Jacobs ’16 have organized and trained volunteers and some of them have even attended MS committee meetings throughout the year.

At this year’s walk, all participants will be given a key ring with strings. They will get beads at the rest stops to make a key ring that says MS. The girls’ lacrosse team helped put together 600 key chains and paint signs. Ellie Deveaux organized this effort, and coaches Jess Keough and Emily Neilson joined in.

A new loop has been added on campus to increase the length of the short walk. Participants can circle on the path behind Armour Academic Center and around the chapel and straight back to Armour as many times as they want, collecting a bead each time.

Anyone interested in participating in the MS Walk may register online at http://walkctn.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Walk/CTNWalkEvents?fr_id=19896&pg=entry or show up at the rink Sunday morning by 8:30 a.m.
