Students Participate in Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day

Three Westminster students participated in a reading of names on Yom HaShoah, Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day, on Sunday, April 7, in Simsbury. They included Klara Lindstrom ’14, Hieu Do ’15 and MacKenzie Hawkes ’15.

Each year, the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation-Emek Shalom sponsors a Holocaust Day of Remembrance to remember many of the people who perished in the Holocaust by publicly reading their names from the steps of Eno Hall in Simsbury.

In years past, children and parents and grandparents, members of the congregation as well as Westminster School students, faculty, staff and parents, people from area churches and other community groups have joined together to read and remember. During the observances, no minute passes without names being read.
