Environmental Writer Fred Strebeigh to Give Talk
Environmental journalist Fred Strebeigh will give a talk Jan. 25 at Westminster as a part of the school’s “Friday Nights in Gund,” a series of readings, lectures and concerts held at Westminster during the academic year. Strebeigh teaches nonfiction writing at Yale University and has written for The Atlantic, Sierra, Smithsonian and the New York Times Magazine. The student presenters will be Westminster Sixth Formers Dana Niland and Sam Matlick.

Strebeigh’s writing has covered a wide range of subjects including the role of the bicycle as a cultural force in China, pressures on the Antarctic treaty system, traces of early man in southern Africa, saving whales from fishing nets off the coast of Newfoundland and defending the world’s largest system of scientific nature reserves in Russia.
His Westminster presentation is free and open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Gund Reading Room of the Armour Academic Center. Refreshments will be served after the presentation and ample parking will be available in the parking lot adjacent to the Armour Academic Center.
