New Student and Faculty Residences Take Shape

When people arrive at the top of Perkin Memorial Drive on the Westminster campus, they can’t help but notice how much construction work was completed over the summer on the two new student and faculty residences.

Construction crews spent the last few months working on underground utility distribution, framing the buildings and drilling 36 geothermal wells. Their goal was to complete work outside of the building fence perimeters before students returned to campus for the start of the school year. Finishing roof work and applying stucco will be next, with interior work scheduled to take place during the late fall and winter.

The new residence halls will each feature 49 student beds, with both single and double rooms, and four faculty apartments, ranging in size from one to four bedrooms. Each floor will have two bathrooms and a large common room with a pantry that includes a microwave and refrigerator. A large recreation area and sizable rooms for storage and laundry facilities will be located on the lowest level. The buildings will each have an elevator and be fully ADA accessible.

Additional information about the new facilities can be found at www.westminster-school.org/dorms.
