Latin Students Visit Holy Cross for Classics Day

Thirty-two Westminster School Latin students participated in Classics Day April 12 at Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. This was the third year Westminster students attended the event.

Westminster had four trivia teams and participated in four skits, including “Which God is the Best,” “The Seven Kings of Rome,” “Pyramus and Thisbe” and “A Journey to the Underworld.” The trivia teams did well, especially Latin 2, earning a hard-won second place from St. Sebastian’s, a team that competed in the finals.

Westminster students also completed a Latin scavenger hunt around the Holy Cross campus, translating Latin on the various buildings and identifying mythological statues.

“The students should be very proud of their accomplishments this year, and they are already planning skits for next year,” said Latin teacher Maureen Lamb, who accompanied the students on the visit.
