Exciting Summer Science Experience for Middle Schoolers

For those middle school students whose interest might be piqued by rocket launches, helium leaks and light-bulb moments, the Summer Science Experience at Westminster School will allow them to conduct real experiments and see the results. The two-week day camp, in its second year, will have students collecting, analyzing and presenting data about their experiments, including the effect of launch velocity and angle on rockets, the rate at which helium leaks from balloons and the efficiency of different light bulbs.

The Summer Science Experience will be taught by veteran science teacher Lee Zalinger and two high school counselors. Students will perform age-appropriate experiments in new state-of-the-art, air-conditioned science labs and in outdoor settings in the Simsbury area. This year, the camp runs weekdays from July 9 through July 20.

For additional information about the camp and registration, contact Lee Zalinger at lzalinger@westminster-school.org or call (860) 335-2523. Summer Science Experience is also on the Web at www.westminster-school.org/sse and on Facebook at SSE Westminster.
