Accomplishments Recognized at Winter Term Ceremony

Headmaster Bill Philip opened the 2012 winter term awards ceremony on March 23 by welcoming everyone back from spring vacation. “This past winter included many special moments in all the different arenas of school activity, underscored by a schedule packed with events, and this spring promises no less,” he said. “As is entirely appropriate, recognition is accorded to students and faculty for impressive accomplishments through ceremonies like the one we are celebrating today.”

He then cited numerous students for their leadership in various areas of school activities including student government, athletics, the performing arts, clubs, charitable fund-raising, the Green Cup Challenge, chapel talks, lectures, WCLP, special dinners and Model United Nations.

“Opportunities to make a difference for others are limitless, as revealed by all of the formal and informal initiatives and acts of unprompted, personal kindness that occur in this school community on a daily basis,” he added. “In this context, consider concluding each evening by asking yourself what you did that day to make someone else’s day a little bit better, what you did to contribute to your community. In committing to this challenge on a daily basis, you will enrich your personal experience immeasurably and contribute significantly to this community.”
