The Second Boys’ Squash team moved to 4-1 for the season with a 7-0 victory over Pomfret. The match was closer than the final score indicates, with four of the matches going to four games, and one was decided in a fifth game. The two Martlets who won in straight games were Will Swanson ’14 at No. 4 and Gavin Durham ’13 at No. 6. After splitting the first two games, Donald Sonn ’12 began hitting tighter shots to win games at No. 7. At No. 5, down 0-1, Curtis Brackett ’13 got better control to close out his match. At No. 1, Reed Melhado ’14 won his first two games comfortably before dropping the third game. Regaining his intensity and focus, Melhado won the fourth game. Miguel Castello ’13 found himself trailing 0-1 at No. 2 and then battled hard to take games two and three and then dominate in the fourth. Finally, in the match of the day, Preston Miller ’13 lost a tough first game before rallying to win games two and three. Miller lost the fourth game and in the deciding game, he managed an 11-9 win.

Third Boys’ Squash
In their second meeting of the season, the Westminster Third Boys’ Squash team was able to reverse a previous 3-4 loss to Salisbury with a 4-3 victory. After a slow start, Westminster managed to work its way back into the game and trail just by three at halftime, 20-23, and then took the lead in the second half. Despite WMA’s valiant effort to tie the game in the final minutes, the Martlets held on for the win. Rachel Monroe ’14 and Meg Richard ’15 were the offensive leaders, while Olivia Tawney ’15 joined Alyssa DiMaria ’15 in the scoring column and played tough inside. Tiaira Myers ’12 provided valuable minutes off the bench and rebounded well.
