Second Field Hockey
The Martlets won their only contest of the week in dominant fashion against Kingswood Oxford, 5-0. Jordan Gowdy ’14, Emily Mell ’13, Hayley Ahouse ’13, Alaina Bisson ’15 and Rachel Monroe ’14 all managed to get the ball past the KO goalie. Maggie Garrison ’13 was the playmaker of the day in the midfield, and Susie Black ’15 had two saves in goal to keep KO off of the scoreboard.

First Girls’ Soccer
In their only game of the week, Westminster found the will to win against Kingswood Oxford, 3 - 2. Iris Dayton ’13 scored early to put the Martlets, ahead and Mary French ’15 received a cross from Megan Richard ’15 to go up 2-0 at the half. KO responded with a goal of their own, but Richard answered with her own goal which was the game winner as KO scored with just five minutes left. The defensive player of the game was Captain Alana Carpenter ’12, who stymied the Wyverns’ best offensive threat.

Fourth Boys’ Soccer
The Martlets won an offensive battle against Avon, 6-5. Reid Cameron ’14 earned a hat trick in the effort and Morgan Heck ’14, Erik Rost ’14 and Avery Leveston ’15 also figured into the high-scoring game. It was a hard-fought and well-deserved victory for the team.

Second Boys’ Soccer
The Martlets found themselves in a grudge match with Avon Old Farms and managed to prevail, 1-0. After a scoreless first half that saw a number of chances for the Martlets thwarted, the Winged Beavers tested Martlet goalie John Pappas ’14 who held strong, supported by the strong backline of Cullen Matt ’13, Pat Brandell ’15, Austen Tibbetts ’15 and Will Swanson ’14. Taking advantage of a mistake from the Avon goalie, Mario Benicky ’14 was finally able to score for Westminster which was enough for the win.

First Football
Westminster moved to 4-1 for the season with a 26-18 win over the Gunnery. Despite being down 12-0, the Martlets fought back to eventually take a 14-12 lead. First Miller Steinle ’12 found Tim Lyons ’12 for a touchdown, and then Kadeam Ward ’12 ran 26 yards for another six points. Gunnery took the lead again, but Steinle threw to Lyons to go up 20-18. Ward would score one more time after the Martlets recovered a fumble. The Martlets were led by Ward’s 93 yards rushing and 12 tackles, Lyons’ 100 yards receiving and 12 tackles, and David Carter’s ’15 six tackles and 69 yards rushing. Franco Serrao ’12 and Kash Naraine ’12 combined for 10 tackles and a sack.
