Students Attend Classics Day

Thirty-four Westminster Latin students attended Classics Day at Holy Cross on April 14, where they participated in skits, Latin trivia and chariot “races” with students from 19 other schools. They were accompanied by Latin teacher Maureen Gassert, an alumna of Holy Cross who helped run Classics Day there as a student.

Westminster’s Latin I Trivia Team, composed of Mae Mullen ’14, Caitlin Pittorie ’13, Travis Percy ’14 and Dana Niland ’13, scored first in their group, and Kevin Murray ’13 pulled Morgan Heck ’14 in a chariot designed by Drew Leach ’11, John Vantine ’13 and Abby Huth ’12. Arismer Angeles ’14, Skyy McGeachy-Campbell ’13 and Molly Mullen ’14 put on a skit about the story of Narcissus and Echo, and students from Latin Literature won an in-school scavenger hunt that required Westminster students to look for and translate Latin on the Holy Cross campus. This was the second year in a row that Westminster sent a delegation to Classics Day.
