Winter Term Awards Announced

Headmaster Bill Philip opened the winter term awards ceremony on March 24 by welcoming everyone back to campus from spring vacation. He then cited many of the “memorable visual images” that occurred to him from the past winter, including the “awesome plant and custodial staff” for cleaning up the winter’s record snowfall; the work of the renewal committees and the Westminster Teaching Initiative; the Anti-Defamation League program; student participation in the Yale Model United Nations; the Chinese New Year dinner, student fund-raising efforts; the Friday Night Readings series; production of digital videos; presentation of works of art in Hamilton Art Studios and the Armour Academic Center; the winter Dramat production; participation in regional music festivals; and the winter performing arts program.

He also commented on the school’s “extraordinary success” in athletic tournaments and championships during the winter term. “One impression remained a constant among all those championship memories and that impression is best captured by the word ‘poise,’” he said. “It is that poise, more than the victories, which makes me so proud of all of you.”
