Teams to Compete in Tournaments

First Field Hockey

For the fourth year in a row, First Field Hockey is heading to the Class A New England Tournament. With a 15-2 regular season record, Westminster earned the #2 seed and will face Loomis at Trintiy College (The Robin Sheppard Field) on Wednesday, Nov. 17, at 2:15 p.m.

The Martlets faced the Pelicans earlier in the fall and came away with a convincing 5-0 win. New England champion Hotchkiss is the #1 seed and defeated the Martlets for the 2009 championship in overtime. After two trips to the semifinals, Westminster would again like to make it to the final four this upcoming weekend at Exeter, where they would face the winner of Greenwich Academy and Exeter.

Tournament Bracket:

#1 Hotchkiss v. #8 Choate

#4 Andover v. #5 Noble & Greenough

#3 Greenwich Academy v. #6 Exeter

#2 Westminster v. #7 Loomis

First Girls’ Soccer

With a 10-3-3 regular season record, First Girls’ Soccer has earned the #5 seed in the Class A New England Tournament and will head to #4 Andover on Wednesday, Nov. 17.

This is the fourth year in a row that the Martlets have made it to the Class A tournament. In 2009, Westminster lost in the quarterfinals in overtime to Brooks School. The Martlets last faced Andover in the 2007 tournament semifinals, where Westminster ultimately fell in overtime. It is likely that this year’s game will be another closely contested matchup.

Tournament Bracket:

#1 BB & N v. #8 Milton Academy

#4 Andover v. #5 Westminster

#3 Loomis v. #6 Exeter

#2 Noble & Grenough v. #7 Taft
