Magazine Article Receives National Award

An article written by Westminster philosophy teacher and director of the Crossroads Cooperative Learning Program (CCLP) Todd Eckerson titled “A 16th Century Guide to 21st Century Education: An Interview with Michel de Montaigne” has received the Distinguished Achievement Award in the category of Outstanding Interview by the Association of Educational Publishers (AEP). Eckerson’s article appeared in the fall 2009 issue of Independent School magazine. In it, Todd turns to The Complete Essays of Montaigne for a “conversation” with the French nobleman about education.

According to Edward Hoyt, editor of National Association of Independent Schools Publications, “only four nominees are selected for each category, so the nominations alone are distinct honors.” Hoyt also added that ". . . [Eckerson’s piece is] notable . . ., as [it] playfully stretches the definition of ‘interview.’”
