Headmaster Graham Cole has announced the appointment of Greg Williams to the position of Director of College Counseling for Westminster School effective in early July. Greg will bring years of experience in college counseling and admissions to his new responsibilities.
Currently, Greg is the Director of College Counseling at Garrison Forest School in Owings Mills, Md. While there, he has provided college-related guidance and support for students and their parents, established professional relationships with college admission officers, held classes for students regarding the college search process and overseen office staff. A member of the residential faculty, he also has been an advisor for study halls and assisted with residential program duties.
Prior to his work at Garrison Forest School, Greg spent seven years at Colgate University, his alma mater, where he served as senior assistant dean of admission, coordinator of international recruitment, assistant coordinator of multicultural recruitment, faculty liaison coordinator and athletic liaison for Division I softball, swimming and volleyball.
Greg also served two years as an admissions interviewer and student activities associate at another of his alma maters, Choate Rosemary Hall.
A graduate of Colgate University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Greg is active in numerous professional associations.
Greg and his wife, Laura, and their two sons, Max and Gideon, will be joining the Westminster community after the July 4th holiday. Greg says he looks forward to returning to Connecticut where grew up and still has family. He also looks forward to returning to a coeducational environment with a full residential community.
“We were very pleased by the strength and depth of the pool of candidates for this position and feel very good that this national search has ended so well for Westminster with a man with experience in both the college and independent boarding school realms,” said Headmaster Graham Cole.
