Student Named to National Olympic Development Program

Torrey Leroy ’09 recently received word of her selection to the United Soccer Leagues (USL) Super Y-League National Olympic Development Program player pool for women’s soccer. Torrey came to the Hill in the fall of 2007 and immediately made an impact on the First Girls’ Soccer team. She is dominant in the midfield and is known for being a playmaker. Her contributions were crucial to Westminster’s appearance in the New England Class A tournament for the last two seasons, which included the upset of #1 seeded Brooks and a trip to the semifinals in 2007.

Torrey’s selection to ODP indicates her success at the national level and distinguishes her as one of the nation’s top young female soccer players. In addition to her club team and Olympic training program, Torrey plans to continue playing soccer in college at the Division I level. It should be noted that Torrey is not only an impressive soccer player but one of Westminster’s leading scholars as well, earning Summus honors during the 2007-2008 school year. Holding herself to high standards on the field and in the classroom makes Torrey a true student-athlete.
