Bob Leve Publishes New Book

Westminster School psychological consultant Bob Leve recently published a new 428-page adventure novel titled “The Second Dream of the Iroquois.” It chronicles the account of the last Icelandic longboat to reach North America and the creation of the Iroquois Nation.
Bob says the book came out of his interest in the early Icelandic voyages of exploration in North America and the culture and history of the powerful Iroquois Confederation.

“Putting the two together came from a cryptic line in the Islandabok Saga relating that a longboat had been sent in 1121 to try to reestablish contact with the Vinland colony, but there was no reference that the boat ever returned,” he said. “Since that was the time of the rise of the Iroquois Confederation, I created the story of two men: the last survivor of the longboat, forever lost from his people, and a brilliant young Iroquois leader trying to save his people from annihilation. Together, they bridge the differences between their cultures and through their friendship they create the Iroquois Nation.”

Bob also has published two academic books: one on child psychology and the other on child psychotherapy. In addition to his work with Westminster School, he is a professor of psychology in the Psychology Department and Doctoral Program at the University of Hartford. He also is an active sea kayaker and has been a navigator on many ocean-sailing races. In past years, he was the U.S. National senior cycling champion and has represented the United States on national teams at cycling races in Peru, Canada, Austria and Germany. As a former military pilot, he still flies airplanes and gliders.
