Art Out of Art!

We are pleased to present to you a gallery of art created by members of the Drawing and Painting class taught by department head Amy Graham.

The assignment was to create an artwork from materials provided. Each student was handed a paper grocery bag filled with recycled artwork. They were asked to use every scrap of the contents of the beg (including the bag itself) and any other materials to construct a diptych which satisfied the following criteria:

1) both pieces are of equal size and shape
2) there exists a clear visual relationship between the works, presumably invoking either harmony or discord
3) there must be three main 'characters' in each piece, thereby creating a kind of 3/2 musical time rhythm in the works.

Please click here to view the gallery. The slideshow can be manually stopped and restarted so that you may linger over each work.
