Darlene Skeels
Six members of Westminster’s First Girls’ Hockey team participated in the USA Hockey Nationals in San Jose, Calif., March 28 – April 1 as members of teams outside of school.

Kayla Lessard is wearing a gold medal and Emily Walsh is wearing a silver medal as Kayla's Assabet team beat Emily's Polar Bear team in the finals of the U16 division. Kayla also won the skills competition for goaltenders in the U16 division.

Nicole Fox and Tori Pizzuto's U14 Polar Bear team lost in the quarterfinals.  Nicole was her team’s leading scorer and was the eighth leading scorer at the nationals.

Bethany Dymarczyk's U19 Polar Bear team lost to the eventual champs in the quarterfinals, and Jessi Waters’ U19 San Jose Sharks team did not make the cross-over round.

“Please congratulate our girls on their impressive showing at the 2007 USA Hockey Nationals,” said First Girls’ Hockey Head Coach David Pope.  “It is very special simply to make the tournament, but our girls also played well and have some hardware to prove it.”
