Hat Day Raises Funds, Prompts Hill Holiday
When the S.O.N. organization set out to help the Foundation for Children with Cancer, they had no idea what support they would garner, nor did they realize it would result in a day off. Last week, students and faculty were asked to donate $5.00; in return, they could wear a hat for the day on January 22 and would be entered into a drawing for a pizza from local favorite Little City Pizza.
S.O.N. chose the foundation because of its compelling mission - to ease the financial burdens that many families face while pursuing quality health care for a child who has cancer. (www.childrenwithcancer.org) Funds raised will be sent to the foundation in support of its work.
The outpouring of support was wonderful, raising more than $450.00. In addition, as head prefect Nick Stevens '07 and S.O.N. advisor Gloria Connell made a presentation at the morning assembly, Mr. Cole joined in the fun, making a contribution and donning his baseball cap. This of course caused an eruption of cheers as it signaled to all that the next day (January 23) would be a Hill Holiday!
