Silent Auction Helps Hospitalized Children

DS
Students who participate in S.O.N. (Serving Our Neighbors) presented representatives of Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center with a check for $736 Jan. 18 from the proceeds of a silent auction held at Westminster in November. The money will be used to purchase exercise equipment for the behavioral health inpatient units for children and adolescents on the Mount Sinai campus of the medical center.

Diane Achenback-Zatorski, director of social service, and Edward Johnson, senior vice president, accepted the checks on behalf of the medical center and said how very much they appreciated the gift. They said the new exercise equipment will provide a much-needed outlet for physical activity for young people in the hospital with a psychiatric diagnosis who are not able to go out for regular exercise.

The annual S.O.N. silent auction raises money for a needy cause through a silent bidding process for goods and services donated by students, faculty and staff.
