The Pete Test School Record Swim for Cancer Raises $14,000

The Westminster Swimming and Diving Team hosted the “Pete Test School Record Swim for Cancer” at the Westminster Swim Center, and garnered pledges for $14,000 to the American Cancer Society. Funds raised will help fight cancer and pay homage to Westminster hero, Pete Test, Class of 1979, who has been battling brain cancer for more than two years with the same determination that made him a champion swimmer at Westminster.

Pete broke the Westminster record in the 50-yard freestyle in 1979, a mark that has remained unbeaten for the past 27 years. It is the oldest, and likely the fastest, school record at Westminster, in this sport’s marquis event. Pete’s time, 21.90 seconds, has been revered by Westminster teams for almost three decades.
