Security Booth Opens

SA/DS
In an effort to further enhance campus nighttime security, a new security booth opened Oct. 30, near the main entrance to Westminster that is staffed by a guard from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m. daily.

Cars approaching the campus after 11 p.m. must stop at a portable stop sign in the road and the occupants must identify themselves unless the car possesses a campus vehicular sticker issued to faculty and staff. When no sticker is visible, the guard will take the license number of the car and ask the occupants about their destination. In some cases, the guard may call the host family to verify the expected visit. If the occupants of the vehicle are unable to provide the name of an adult campus resident or a reasonable explanation for their business on campus, access will be denied. If a car fails to stop, the guard will contact a second security guard on duty on the upper campus to find the vehicle and determine why it is on campus.
