Area Independent School Student Activities Directors Meet at Westminster

Westminster’s Director of Student Activities, Sarah Coco Bishop, hosted a luncheon for Activities Directors from boarding schools in the region. The primary goal of this group is to make the weekends fun and engaging for students, while offering opportunities for students at different schools to get together. “As a group, we are working on planning inter-school dances and concerts, coordinating group bookings to reduce costs, and sharing our ideas with each other for future events,” said Bishop.

Everyone had their school calendars in hand to schedule events for the year. Schools that were unable to attend the luncheon still participated by sending in dates of their events and items for the agenda.

As is common in the independent school community, there was plenty of openness and collaboration, including the sharing of successes, pitfalls and results of the participating schools’ experiences. Energized by the meeting, the directors returned to their campuses armed with helpful information, new connections, and new ideas to enhance student activities and student life. The group plans to meet in the fall and spring each year.
