A Solid Win

The girls arrived at Kent at 4 p.m. on a day with welcome sun and increasing wind for a 4:30 start. The first matches to go on were the four singles matches and number one doubles. Birthday girl Lilly Murphy ‘25 found herself down 1-6 and frustrated at her own lack of consistency before winning seven straight games to take her match 8-6. In the meantime, Colby Smith ‘24 and Eliza Cabot ‘24 won while Margaux Walter ‘27 struggled early. Walter managed to win six straight games to take a 7-2 lead and then lost four games with multiple double faults. Throughout her match, Walter found the corners and was able to consistently retrieve good drop shots. She converted her first match ball to complete the team sweep in singles. At two and three doubles, Lucy Morton ‘26 and Virginia Whiting ‘26 and Kitty Olson ‘27 and Veronica Edwards ‘27 didn’t give up any games. Lily Wendler ‘24 and Ashley Hill ‘25 played well in exhibition.
