An Intense Matchup

The girl’s team was back at it today taking on the always strong squad from Greens Farms Academy.  However, since GFA only had three players, we decided on a format of best of three matches.  Moving quickly as twosomes, all three of our top players started well in the opening holes with Cindion Huang ‘25 leading the way at #1, followed by Lucy Wainwright ‘25, and Taylor Horgan ‘24.  From this coach’s vantage point, it was fun to watch the intensity of the competition as well as the ebb and flow of each match.  In both Huang and Wainwright’s matches, their early leads quickly came under attack and, to the credit of the GFA players, both of the visitors fought back and eventually won tight, spirited matches.  Horgan, recent winner of the team’s weekly “Top Dog” Award, carried the momentum from her Monday match into this one, settling for a tie with her GFA opponent on the ninth hole.  Taylor used her long, precise drives to take a lead on the late holes, but the GFA player worked hard to stay in the match. Next up, Greenwich and Loomis on Saturday, a match that will demand our players to be at their best.
