Flashes of Brilliance

In today's ultimate frisbee game, the Martlets unfortunately fell short, losing with a score of 15-9. Despite our efforts, we faced some challenges throughout the match. One significant issue was an abundance of unforced errors, which hindered our momentum and allowed the opposing team to gain the upper hand. While our team showed flashes of brilliance with some successful plays and strong efforts, we struggled to maintain consistency and capitalize on opportunities. Despite the loss, this game serves as a valuable learning experience, highlighting areas for improvement such as minimizing errors, enhancing communication, and refining our strategies for future matches. WNS scored the first three points before Derek Rhodes ‘25 hit Alex Wood ‘25 to get Westminster on the board. WNS scored three more goals and the Martlets trailed 6-1. Wood responded with a beautiful toss to Quinn Pine ‘25. Then Austin Black ‘24 hit Nathan Lee ‘24. WNS scored again to make it 7-3. Wood hit Lee to make it 7-4. After another WNS, Mark Richardson ‘25 hit Wood and the score was 8-5 at the break. The Martlets came out strong in the second half. Wood hit Pine and then Rhodes hit Black to make it a one score game. After WNS scored twice, Rhodes hit Pine to cut the lead to 10-8. WNS was able to capitalize on some unforced errors and score more points. Pine with Black for the final Westminster point. WNS was a talented group and the Martlets will return stronger in their next game.
