A Flawless Defensive Performance

Anna Hassett '27 pitched a shutout and Olivia Gordon '24 had 3 hits and 5 RBIs to lead Westminster over Taft. Mia Magriz '25 blasted a solo home run and had three hits for the Martlets. Defensively, Westminster was flawless and played error free softball. Gordon was involved in five putouts at second base, and Paige Herlihy '25 had some nice plays at shortstop. Marleigh Monroe '24 was sharp at third base, and Melody El-Amin '27 caught a fine game behind the plate. Meiyin Ren '25 and Gabby de la Fe '26 each made excellent catches in the outfield for Westy. Emily Ginter '24 and Ren had two hits apiece for the Black and Gold. Emily Fonner '26 and Mya Polastry '27 each drove in runs during a seven run outburst by the Martlets in the fourth inning. On the mound, Hassett pitched a gem, allowing only two base hits by the Rhinos. The Martlets will next play at Canterbury on Saturday.
