Martlets Fall to Belmont Hill

Summary: The Martlets traveled to Boston to play a tough Belmont Hill (BH) team on Friday night. This would be the second game in 3 days. Final score was 13-7 Belmont Hill. The contest started evenly matched for the first 7 mins. However, the Martlets failed to capitalize on several early offensive possessions and eventually BH took advantage of costly mistakes breaking out very quickly to 8-0 lead in the final 5 mins of Q1. The stunned Martlets battled back. They regrouped and held BH to 5 goals over the final 3 quarters to the Martlets 7 goals, but they unfortunately ran out of time. Overall, the Martlets were disappointed in how this one ended, especially given our strong play over 3 quarters of the game. The boys learned that good teams like BH will quickly take advantage of mistakes over a short period of time. The coaches were proud of the boys and how they battled back, never giving up and believing in one another. Top performers include Owen O’Farrell ’24, 3 goals, Reid Bulger ’24, 2 goals, Aidan Walsh ’24, 1 goal, 3 GBs and Jackson Raymond ’24 posted 14 saves.  Fredrick Gunn next.
