Martlets Fall to CA

The girls battled a tough team from Cheshire and it was a great game start to finish. Thanks to some hot shooting, Cheshire was able to pull away in the 3rd period. The Martlet defense was strong, but the offense could not put the ball in the basket enough times. Emme Pacheco-Hager ‘25 had her strongest game against a physical group from CA. Haley Cramer ‘24 led the team on both ends and helped keep the game close. The 1st half was evenly played. Trailing 18-16, Westminster had a chance to take the lead, but CA was able to get a basket right before the break to lead 21-16 at half. Eva Rogers ‘25 and Lauren Neuman ‘25 worked hard on both ends and the 3rd quarter began with neither team scoring for about 4 minutes. Cheshire was then able to hit a few three pointers and build a lead. Westminster could not close the gap. Delia Lockwood ‘26 was a defensive force. She caused several turnovers and had many key rebounds. Lockwood, Cramer, and the rest of the Martlets held CA to 22 points below their season average. You read that correctly - CA was averaging 66 points per game. This was the best defensive performance of the season. The girls return to action on Monday against Loomis Chaffee School in Windsor, CT.
