Martlets Fall To Millbrook

The Martlets traveled to take on the Mustangs of Millbrook in the confines of Mills Athletic Center. While Millbrook may serve as home to Trevor Zoo and over eleven endangered species, the Martlets looked poised to make it twelve in searching for their first road win. Black and Gold came out strong in the first half. Jin Lee ‘24 notched thirteen of his sixteen total in the first while Hugh Olson ‘25 drained two three-pointers. The Black and Gold defense traveled as Alex Wood ‘25 and Finn Williams ‘26 pestered Mustang guards on the perimeter. Draven Chung ‘26 added six points and Aidan Walsh ‘24 had a fadeaway put back for two of his three total. Brody DiBeneditto ‘26 added some of his best perimeter defense of the season in the closing minutes of the first half. Finn silenced the echoes of the arena with two empathetic blocks to turn the momentum to the Martlets, taking a lead into the locker room at halftime. The Mustangs galloped back into the game as the Black and Gold offense stalled in the second half due to turnovers and passing in transition. Finn Williams ‘26 converted on a three pointer and contributed all of his five points in the second half, but the Mustangs escaped with the win on their home floor. The team competed, played strong defense, and broke free from full court pressure showing signs of improvement on the year but are still looking for the complete thirty-two minute performance on the road. The Martlets travel to Pomfret after the winter long weekend next Wednesday.
