Martlets Fall to Choate

The Martlets knew coming in today was going to be just as tough as the weekend was but were more than ready for it. The Martlets never shy away from a tough match and today was no different. Choate is knowingly very skilled when it comes to squash so the team strategy was to focus on individual game point by point. We wanted to focus on technique and pacing which worked well for many people on the ladder. Emily Fonner ’26 at number 5, was the only person of the day to take their opponent to 4 games. She was advised to focus on her strengths which are her rails and that worked in her favor in  the second game. However, she was up against a very strong player who ended up ending the match with a great short game. Sophia Lazor ‘27 at number 1, fought tooth and nail during her match. Everyone was on the edge of their seats the entire time because of how much precision and skill was being exhibited between her and her opponent. The match only went to 3 but Sophia played some of the best squash she has this season in this match. She was reading her opponent very well and maximizing the space on the court amazingly. Her opponent was also amazing so it was a battle the entire time. Grit and Grace displayed by the Martlets is always something to compliment and mention. This team, win or lose are kind and calculated. Nothing is taken for granted by them and the fight is there until the very end.
