Martlets Defeat Williston

Against a strong WNS team, the Martlets played tough defense, hit some shots, and controlled the game for a solid victory. Haley Cramer ‘24 led a spirited Westminster defense that kept Williston off balance all night. Emme Pecheco-Hager ‘25 was outstanding on the defensive boards and Eillie Smith ‘27 had two steals and a block. The Martlets held Williston to 11 points in the first half. Lauren Neuman ‘25 kept the Wildcats at bay with rebounding, defense, and timely shooting. While the team played well, it was Eva Rodgers ‘25 who had a night. She was 5-8 from beyond the arc and 6-6 from the FT line. Each time the Wildcats tried to make a run, Rodgers would hit a big shot to sink their spirits. Rodgers once again had several key rebounds. Despite two or three Wildcats hanging on her, she was able to secure the rebounds and either make the outlet pass or get fouled. The Martlets did not let up in the second half, holding a high scoring Wildcat team to just twenty more points. This was a solid game for the Martlets. The girls return to action on Saturday night against rival Porter’s.
