Martlets Fall to Loomis

The Martlets traveled to Ericson Gym looking for their first road win against the Pelicans of Loomis Chaffee. The Pelicans applied some pressure to jump out to an early first half lead. Bay area native Aidan Walsh ‘24 channeled his inner Kevon Looney, securing six rebounds and injecting energy off the bench helping the Martlets settle into the first half. Hugh Olson ‘25 added a sharpshooting corner three out of his total of eight points. Alexei Kocatas ‘25 and Rhys Marschke ‘24 helped shepherd the offense against the extended pressure from the Pelicans, cutting the game deficit to eight headed into the half. The Martlets came out strong in the second half with Alex Wood ‘25, Declan Cody ‘25, and Michael Basich ‘26 bringing the game down to five points. Turnovers and transition defense hindered the Martlets ability to find a consistent offensive rhythm and created easier scoring opportunities for the Pelicans as the game opened up midway through the second half. The Martlets look to build on the positive and turn the page quickly as the Wyverns of Kingswood Oxford make the trek up Simsbury Road on Friday evening.
