Martlets Fall to Bearcats

After a run of close games, Westminster gave the Bearcats a few too many easy baskets tonight. This was an odd game. After taking a 4-0 lead to start the game, Westminster gave up a 20-2 run. The Martlets trailed 20-6 after the 1st quarter. The 2nd and 3rd quarters were more even. The Martlets actually outscored the Bearcats 23-22 in the middle half of the game. Trailing 28-43 after 3 quarters, the Martlets were playing well. Hotchkiss then outscored Westminster 27-3 in the final period. Haley Cramer ‘24 and Lauren Neuman ‘25 worked well together and put pressure on the Bearcats. Ellie Smith ‘27 and Delia Lockwood ‘26 played excellent half-court defense on the main scorer for Hotchkiss. For 16 minutes, Westminster played some of its basketball of the season. The girls will try to get to 32 minutes on Friday against Taft.
