Martlets Get a Road Win

After a close, first half, Westminster pulled away in the third quarter, and held on to top a scrappy Canterbury squad. Canterbury started the game with a 6-0 run as they began 4-4 from beyond the arc. Westminster settled down and eventually took the lead on a three point shot from Eva Rodgers ‘25. Rodgers rebounded well and hit another shot from long distance to lead a Martlet run early in the second half. At halftime the score was 15-13 Westminster. The 3rd quarter belonged to Emme Pacheco-Hager ‘25 and Lauren Neuman ‘25. With captain Haley Cramer ‘24 in command, the Martlets began the second half with a 21-3 run. Neuman was masterful on offense and defense and Pacheco-Hager kept the ball moving on offense. P-C was also strong on the boards today. The game also saw Sophie McKenna ‘27 contribute on both ends of the floor. After getting fouled on the three-point shot, Mckenna made all three free throws. She would later hit a three pointer in the fourth quarter. Lilly Murphy ‘25 was a force on the defensive boards tonight. Canterbury only had a handful of offensive rebounds. Murphy led the way in getting all of the rest. Everyone on the team made a significant contribution in the victory today. The girls are back to work on Monday and then host Hotchkiss on Wednesday.
