Martlets Fall to Choate

The Martlets welcomed the Wild Boar of Choate in the close confines of Pettee Gym. The first half was low scoring for both teams. Hugh Olson ‘25 helped set the tone for a physical day on the board nabbing five rebounds while Rhys Marschke ‘24 and Alexei Kocatas ‘25 helped stifle a potent Choate offense in the first half. While scoring was at a premium, the Martlets competed and were right in it, heading into the locker room trailing 18-12. In the second half, Draven Chung ‘26 converted on a strong three-point play off an assist from Michael Basich ‘26. The interior duo of Basich and Chung gave us a spark of physicality and commitment to the glass. Draven continued to exert his enforcer interior presence with an emphatic block. Off a rebound, Hugh Olson ‘25 spotted an open Jin Lee ’24 through two defenders, leading to an open three. Even with Jinn Lee ‘24 scoring 18 points in the second half out of his total of 20, the Martlets turnovers and inability to find a second scoring threat helped Choate extend their second half lead. The team has to turn the page quickly as the Saints of Canterbury come marching into Williams Hill on Friday evening.
