Martlets Fall to Ethel Walker

After a great start to the game by Westminster, Ethel was able to pull away in the last few minutes of the first period. Evan Rodgers ‘25 got the game started with a deep three pointer, Cramer followed with two free throws, and the Martlets led 5-2 after the first three minutes. Ethel would tie it and Westminster would not lead again. The Martlets were unable to close the gap and Ethel got the win. Westminster played well for the first part of each half. Haley Cramer ‘24 and Lauren Neuman ’25 led the way on defense. Delia Lockwood ‘26 frustrated Ethel throughout the game. While the Martlets were able to create turnovers, Westminster could not capitalize on the offensive end. Ethel, on the other hand, shot well and took advantage of the Westminster turnovers in the first half. When the Martlets are able to force a team to play offense in the ½ court, Cramer, Neuman, Lockwood, and their teammates are as tough as anyone. Sophie McKenna ‘27 disrupted shots and got a much needed block in the 3rd period. Gianna Monaco ‘27 and Parker Perillo ‘26 were also able to disrupt Ethel. Unfortunately, Ethel’s ability to capitalize off the turnovers was the story tonight. The girls return to action on Wednesday at Choate.
