Meet Hitting Coach Scott Wosleger

Scott Wosleger started with Westminster baseball in 2022 as an assistant coach, primarily focusing on hitters. Before that he spent four years as the head coach at Founders League foe Choate Rosemary Hall before joining his son Ty’s staff at Westy. Scott spent 2017 as an assistant at Choate helping lead the Wild Boars to a 15-6 record while coaching three Division I signees. The previous two seasons (’14, ’15) he was an assistant coach at Wesleyan University where he worked with the catchers, infielders and hitters. In 2015 he assisted in leading the program to the NESCAC championship, NCAA regional, and the most wins in school history. Scott coached three players from the 2015 team that signed professional contracts. In 2016, he helped the program to a NESCAC playoff berth while the team posted top five national ranking in several offensive categories.

Scott’s experience is extensive. He spent the 2014 and 2015 summers as the hitting coach for the Mystic Schooners in the NECBL. Both summers, the team ranked first or second in hits, runs, RBI, OBP, RISP, OPS and K/BB ratio. In 2015 his hitters had the lowest strikeout total in the league since 2008. The 2014 team also produced the NECBL batting champion and home run champion. Scott coached 10 NECBL all-stars during those two summers.

Before Wesleyan, he spent eight seasons as the head coach at East Hampton (Conn.) High School. He built the program into a state power, posting the best career record in school history 117-69 with a postseason record of 20-7. East Hampton squads won conference titles in ’08, ’11, ’13 as well as a state title in 2011. Also in 2011, the team was voted by the CHSCA as the No. 1 team in Connecticut. At EHHS, Scott developed 15 collegiate players. Overall, he has coached 16 players who have gone on to professional baseball.

As a player Scott was a 1986 graduate of Iona College, and the third baseman on the 1985 MAAC Championship team. He also played on the 1982 University of New Haven team that went to the Div. II College World Series. In high school, he was a captain and All-FCIAC selection in both baseball and basketball at Stamford Catholic High (now Trinity Catholic).

Scott also has a wealth of camp experience directing his Coach Wos Five Tool baseball camps. Since 2004, these camps provide baseball players ages 7-19 with a unique experience including mental training and video analysis. In 2012 and 2013, he worked at Camp Greylock (Beckett, Mass.) under the direction of Bob Morgan, longtime Indiana University baseball coach and renowned speaker and clinician. Coach Wos also works various college showcases throughout the year.

Scott lives in East Hampton, Conn. with wife Laurie. He has three sons, Tyler, Austin and Owen who all played for him at EHHS and have gone on to play college baseball.
