Energized

Always a pleasure heading over to our local and friendly rivals in West Hartford, and the boys were all energized for the Monday Matinee. Always a pleasure heading over to our local and friendly rivals in West Hartford, and the boys were all energized for the Monday Matinee. Doubles started out strong in the #2 and #3 positions. Logan Sun ‘24 and Hugh Olson ‘25 had an even contest to start, but picked up their serve and made some great crosses at net to put the pressure on and secure the win 8-4. The rookie #3 team of Finn Hocking ‘26 and Liam Hibbard ‘27 played some of their best doubles of the season, especially from the baseline, winning 8-1. The #1 duo of co-captains David Suit ‘24 and Will Whiting ‘24 were looking for some KITT revenge, and pulled out a gutsy pro set win against a great KO team, 8-5. The exhibition teams of Alexei Kocatas ‘25 and Alex Chen ‘24, as well as Will Henry ‘26 and Arshaan Shah ‘26, pulled out some great wins at #4 and #5, especially at #4 getting the late win 8-6. Up 1-0 overall heading to singles. Riding a good momentum wave, Hocking, Olson and Suit kept up a strong level of play at the #6, #4 and #1 positions to secure the team victory and get to four overall points. Well done Suit in particular for some much improved, steady play in a rematch from the KIIT. Credit to KO for continuing to battle in all the remaining matches, forcing super tiebreaks at #2, #3 and #5. Whiting created some great chances, but fell 10-8 in the decider. Sun saved his best for last, prevailing 10-5! The young one, Hibbard, saved a match point in his super, ultimately winning as the sun was setting 12-10! Much closer than the total score indicates, but the boys fought hard and earned this one. We’ll look to keep it rolling against a strong Deerfield team at home on Wednesday.
