In his 31st season as head coach, Greg Marco leads Westminster First Boys' Golf as it competes against Founders League opponents, along with other western New England prep schools. The team's home course is Hop Meadow Country Club, an outstanding private course designed by renowned architect Geoffrey Cornish (Par 72, 6915 yards, 73.9/136). Hop Meadow is less than 2 miles from campus and provides a thorough challenge to players of all ability levels. Competitive matches are either 9-hole or 18-hole medal play competitions, which typically involve multiple opponents.
There are four major tournaments each golf season, the 10-team Suffield Invitational, the 14-team Western New England Invitational, the nine-team Founders League championship and the 23-team Kingswood Invitational Tournament (KIT). Since its return to the Westminster athletic program in the late 1980s, the golf team has consistently been in the upper tier of New England prep school programs, including victories in 1988, 2005 and 2019 Founders League tournaments, along with the 2005 KIT championship.
Along with the team success, a significant number of recent graduates have gone on to play at the collegiate level, including Division I programs such as Boston College, UConn, Davidson, Delaware, Indiana, Northwestern, Richmond and Tulane, along with Division III programs such as Colby, F&M, Gettysburg, Kenyon, Middlebury, Skidmore, Tufts, Washington & Jefferson and Washington & Lee.
