Academic Extra Help at Westminster

Tony Griffith, Head of the Mathematics Department

In addition to the superb instruction in the classroom four times per week, Westminster faculty members are available for extra help outside of the scheduled course meeting times. Students and teachers can meet during common free periods, after school, in the early evenings and during study hall. Most of these meetings are arranged between the student and the teacher.

During the periods when they are not teaching, you will often see Westminster faculty meeting with students in the library, in the classrooms and in the lounges of Armour Academic Center (AAC). Teachers are available to answer questions about homework, to edit papers and to help students prepare for tests.

One of the most visible forms of extra help is the Math Lab on the third floor of AAC. Every morning (Mon.-Sat.) one of the math teachers is available from 7:40-8:20. Students can drop in and get help with homework, ask questions about a problem set, or get help preparing for a quiz or test. Because the math teachers are there every morning, students do not need to set up an appointment. They can stop by for a few minutes or for the entire time.

Most math teachers can help any student in any math class at Westminster, thus the Math Lab is a great place to go for extra help! Members of the math faculty strongly encourage students to get answers to their questions either by meeting with their teacher for extra help or by stopping by the Math Lab after breakfast. What a great way to start the day!
