Students Participate in Model U.N. Conference at University of Hartford

The Westminster Model U.N. club joined other local schools at the University of Hartford Dec. 1-2 for the World Affairs Council of Connecticut’s Model U.N. conference. The conference gave students the opportunity to engage in debate over a wide range of topics that revolved around the theme: “Security in a Shifting World.”

In this two-day event, 20 Martlets represented Iran and Saudi Arabia and attempted to resolve problems such as nuclear deterrence, financing of terrorism, and refugees. The students found themselves in heated debate and worked hard to build coalitions to pass their resolutions.

“Ultimately, this conference serves as a good tuneup for the Yale Model U.N. conference that students will attend in January,” said Betsy Heckman, head of the History Department and advisor to the club.
