Poet Philip Metres to Give Reading

Poet Philip Metres will give a reading at Westminster Dec. 8 as part of the Friday Nights at Westminster series. The student reader will be Ian Dardani '18, the winner of the English Department's This I Believe essay writing contest.

The event is free and open to the public and will begin at 7 p.m. in the Gund Reading Room of Armour Academic Center.
 
Metres has written and translated a number of books and chapbooks, including “Pictures at an Exhibition,” “Sand Opera,” “I Burned at the Feast: Selected Poems of Arseny Tarkovsky,” “To See the Earth” and others. His work has appeared widely, including in “Best American Poetry,” and he has garnered two NEA fellowships, two Arab American Book Awards, the Lannon Literary Fellowship and numerous other honors. He is a professor of English at John Carroll University in Cleveland.
 
Ample parking will be available in the parking lot adjacent to Armour Academic Center. The event is made possible by a generous grant from the Ford-Goldfarb English Department Enrichment Fund.
