Martlets Win on the Road

The Westminster Martlets made the short trip to Farmington on Saturday evening to take on Miss Porter’s. From the opening tip-off, the Martlets displayed fierce determination, playing with both confidence and tremendous grit. In the first quarter, they quickly established a lead, capitalizing on every offensive opportunity that presented itself. Even when their shots didn’t fall, the Martlets were able to secure offensive rebounds, giving them even more chances to score. Entering the second quarter up 12-2, the Martlets continued to build upon their momentum. They added an additional 16 points in the second quarter, solidifying their dominance on the court. Entering the second half with a 28-12 lead, the Martlets looked to be on their way to a victory. However, Miss Porter’s refused to go down without a fight. They made a valiant effort to chip away at the Martlet lead, but the Martlets were up to the task. They responded to Miss Porter’s attempts with poise and maintained their aggressive play style. When not running on fast breaks and looking for quick baskets off of steals, the Martlets did a solid job of executing their plays and finishing their opportunities. As a result of their tireless effort and determination, the Martlets secured a hard-earned victory and had a blast doing so! Lauren Neuman ‘25 and Ruthie Haims ‘23 were the team’s leading scorers today with 9 points each. Haley Cramer ‘24 did a fantastic job bringing the ball up the court, and being extremely gritty on defense; she finished the game today with 8 points. Bianca D’Onofrio ‘23 and Mather Thompson ‘23 each had 7 points today at important moments throughout the game. Mia Fluckiger ‘26 was also able to add 4 points for the Martlets. Today, Westminster played one of their best games of the season. Their next game will be Monday, January 30th, at Ethel Walker. The game will be played at 4:45 PM.
