Martlets Fall on the Road

Following a well-played season-opener at Berkshire, the Martlets ran into a first-period buzzsaw against the Blue Dogs from Rumsey Hall. Amidst penalty trouble and sharp-shooting, Westminster found themselves down 4-0 after one. The second stanza saw moments of improved play, but periodic losses of composure cost the team more time in the penalty box, and Rumsey extended their lead to 6-0. Westminster finally began to play to their capability in the third period, scoring two goals in the first minute of play. Ethan Cramer ‘23 got the Martlets on the board with the assist going to Zac Jainchill ‘25. Just 16 seconds later, Reed Ghriskey ‘26 scored the first goal of his Westminster career with assists going to Ethan Cramer and Zac Jainchill. The Blue Dogs got one back before Ghriskey scored his second of the game. Ryan Flam ‘23 and Ethan Cramer had the helpers to round out the scoring. Westminster takes to the ice again on Saturday versus Northwest Catholic JV. Gametime is at 6:10 at the International Skating Center in Simsbury.
