Martlets Defeat Loomis

While the air was chilly, the Martlets lets were on fire today! Thirds field hockey traveled to Loomis to take on the Pelicans for an evenly played match. Marin Benoit '26 was close to scoring the first goal within minutes of the game opening. Unfortunately, Loomis was able to strike first after five minutes of play. Westminster was not out of the game yet, though. With three minutes left in the first quarter, Katie Corr '25 connected with Cricket Beard '25 in front of the cage for the first goal for the Martlets. Neither team would score until the final seconds of the game. There was a constant back and forth with numerous near misses. Despite their best efforts, the Westminster girls were unable to sneak the ball past a talented Loomis goalie. With the clock winding down, Anastasia Augsberger '26 took a rebound from the goalie's pads and connected with the back of the cage for the winning goal. This was her first of the season and the last for the 2022 season. Charlotte Radin '26 suited up and notched 8 saves for her first showing in goal. It was the perfect ending for a terrific season!
