Martlets Shutout Taft

Blessed with a balmy November afternoon for their visit to Taft, the girls played a very strong game and came away with a shutout win. Despite a clear territorial and possession advantage for the visitors, the game remained scoreless through halftime. Fortunately, the Martlets didn’t have to wait too long into the second frame to break the tie. In the 49th minute, Riley Vincent ‘23 took a nice feed from Eliza Cabot ‘24 and one-timed a high, hard shot from just outside of the box. Cabot doubled the lead in the 65th minute when she took a great through ball from Lexi Willis ‘26, gathered it in and scored with her left foot. The final margin came off the foot of Colby Smith ‘24, who calmly collected a rebound just outside of the six yard box and buried her chance. Today’s shoutouts got to Willis, who was a force at attacking midfield; to Parker Perillo ‘26, who inspired with her hustle; and to Peyton Harding ‘24, who sealed the right flank and had numerous good touches while making her first start at outside back. Meiyin Ren ‘25 and Lily Raskin ‘25 shared duties in net in securing the clean sheet.
