Martlets Win on the Road

The Martlets traveled to Canterbury this Saturday to battle against the Saints. Family weekend coupled with senior day, the Saints entered the game with a great deal of momentum and energy. Despite the long bus ride, Westminster was eager to get the game started and capitalize on their opportunities. Just six minutes into the first half, the Martlets scored their first goal; Haley Cramer ‘24 played a wonderful ball over the back line for Elysse Cumberland ‘24 to run on to. Beating a defender and dribbling all the way into the six, Cumberland placed a crisp ball into the far left corner of the net. Two minutes later, Cumberland played a great ball into open space in the box for Mia Fluckiger ‘26 to finish. With 20 minutes remaining in the first half, Blessing Kieh ‘24 had a nice service into the box. After a quick back-and-forth scramble in the 18, the ball landed at Catherine Graves’ ‘24 feet. With poise, Graves shot the ball over the hands of the keeper and into the back of the net. The final goal of the half came from Jillian Gregorski ‘24, off of a ball from Graves. Entering the second half, the Martlets still had a few goals left in them. With 28 minutes left in the match, Kaitlyn McQueeney ‘24 found Gregorski. After dribbling through multiple defenders, Gregorski scored her second goal of the game. The final goal came off of a corner from Lauren Neuman ‘25. A nice lofted ball into the box by Neuman, Avery Boulanger ‘25 played it back into the center of the box for Kieh to finish. Today was a full team effort. With this win, the Martlets are 11-2 on the season. The team looks forward to their next game at Taft this upcoming Wednesday, November 2nd. The game will be played at 2:30 PM.
